WHAT I DO

I provide custom creative and instructional services for marching bands, concert ensembles, and competitive programs that want a stronger identity and a better product on the field.

My work is built around three things:

  • CLARITY — every design choice should communicate
  • CHALLENGE — students grow when the writing meets them and pushes them
  • COHESION — music, visual, leadership, and performance should all work together

If your program needs more than a contractor and less than chaos, you’re in the right place.

CREATIVE SERVICES

1. SHOW DESIGN THAT ACTUALLY CONNECTS

A strong show is more than a good concept. It needs the right pacing, the right emotional arc, the right visual support, and music that fits the performers in front of you.

I work with directors and creative teams to develop cohesive, competitive programs from the ground up. Every decision is made with communication, teachability, and effect in mind.

What’s included:

  • Theme and concept development
  • Narrative shaping and pacing
  • Coordination with drill, guard, and design staff
  • Music-to-visual alignment
  • Effect-driven planning
  • Guidance on props, costumes, staging, and general presentation
  • Early-season collaboration and ongoing design support

This is not about throwing ideas at the wall. It is about building a unified production that knows what it is and delivers.

2. MUSIC WRITTEN FOR YOUR BAND — NOT SOMEBODY ELSE’S

Every ensemble has strengths. Every ensemble has limits. The job is not to ignore either one.

I create custom arrangements and original compositions tailored to your instrumentation, ability levels, and instructional goals. The result is music that sounds strong, teaches well, supports the visual product, and gives students the chance to perform with confidence and pride.

What’s included:

  • Custom marching band arrangements
  • Original compositions
  • Concert band and wind ensemble commissions
  • Flexible instrumentation
  • Ability-appropriate ranges and responsibilities
  • Balanced voicing and scoring
  • Integrated battery and front ensemble writing
  • Optional electronics integration
  • Revisions throughout the season
  • Exclusivity options by region or circuit

No stock charts. No forced writing. No wasted reps on music your group was never built to play.

3. SPECIAL PROJECTS, COMMISSIONS, AND CUSTOM SUPPORT

Not every program need fits neatly into a box. If you need concert literature, a specialty arrangement, a custom commission, or help shaping a unique project, I’m open to building something that fits your goals.

Examples may include:

  • Concert band arrangements
  • Wind ensemble commissions
  • Percussion-focused projects
  • Stand tunes / spirit tunes
  • Intro production music
  • Ceremony or exhibition material
  • Custom educational materials

If the project matters, it deserves a thoughtful design—not a rushed shortcut.

ADDITIONAL SERVICES

1. TRAINING STUDENTS TO LEAD, PERFORM, AND DELIVER

A stronger program is built from the inside out. Students need more than information—they need clarity, accountability, and a standard they can rise to.

I offer clinics and instructional sessions designed to strengthen leadership, improve performance habits, and reinforce the identity of your program. Whether it is a one-day clinic or a longer instructional partnership, everything is customized to fit your staff structure and student needs.

What’s included:

  • Drum major training
  • Student leadership development
  • Conducting clinics
  • Marching fundamentals
  • Rehearsal block leadership
  • Performance mindset and communication
  • Sectional structure and organizational training
  • Virtual or in-person instruction
  • Custom curriculum tailored to your program

The goal is not just better rehearsal behavior. The goal is student leaders who can carry your program forward with confidence.

2. CONTEST ADJUDICATION

A JUDGE’S PERSPECTIVE IS A COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE

Since 2011, I have served as an adjudicator across multiple circuits and captions. That perspective informs every service I offer.

I understand what judges respond to, where programs lose clarity, how effect gets diluted, and what separates a safe design from one that truly communicates.

That insight matters.

It shapes the way I write, the way I teach, and the way I help programs clean, refine, and present themselves.
